Hello folks! Hope all is well with everyone. The end of summer is definitely here, the heating has gone on and autumn is upon us! Its barely Halloween and the Christmas cards and decorations sections are all up in the shops (way too early). Id rather enjoy the gorgeous colours and scents of autumn first please! In keeping with this I would like to introduce you to our dining room! It is still obviously a work in progress and I had hoped to find the perfect over-mantle mirror but not yet. So when we got the house this room had very bouncy floor boards due a faulty beam, apparently, so this needed fixing. Also the walls and ceiling were a pale yellow...this had to go, as did the carpet. With the room stripped bare, the floor was sanded and stained, and the walls plastered. We love entertaining and throwing dinner parties. The first time dinner party in this room we managed to host 11 people around a table in here and therefore we wanted to create a dramatic and intimate dining experience (Hopefully the food would live up to the surrounding). So as you may have gathered from the paint samples on the walls, and the Instagram feed...we went for RED! Deep, luscious, warm red. This paired with the upholstered chairs (previous post), the vintage dining table we bought off ebay, the up-cycled welsh dresser and new book cases have all helped to create the final look. We hosted our first 6+ dinner party last week with good food and wine to pair! Success! I'm looking forward to the hanging of this gorgeous vintage Murano glass chandelier I picked up at the antiques market, and a few mini touches and then we are nearly there.
So keep tuned here and on my Instagram for updates on whats going on here @numbereighteen.
